Choosing a YouTube Editing Agency for a Finance Channel

If you run a finance channel, the editor you work with shapes how your audience perceives you. A good edit makes complex ideas clear and keeps viewers watching. A poor one makes a smart presenter look slow, confusing or untrustworthy. Here's what to look for when choosing an agency.

1. Do they understand finance content?

Finance viewers are sceptical and detail-oriented. An agency that mostly edits vlogs or gaming may not know how to handle charts, numbers and dense explanations. Ask to see work from finance, investing or education channels, and look at how they visualise data. Are numbers on screen? Are charts clean and accurate? Does the edit build trust or feel like hype?

2. Do they talk about retention, or just about "clean edits"?

A clean edit is the minimum. What grows a channel is retention: how long viewers stay. A strong agency will talk about your retention curves, where viewers drop off and why, and how they'd fix it. If an agency can't explain how their edits affect watch time, they're selling a production service rather than growth.

If you want to check your own numbers first, our guide to reading your retention graph explains what to look for.

3. Will you have a dedicated editor?

Many agencies rotate editors across clients, which means the person cutting your video this week may never have seen your channel before. A dedicated editor learns your pacing, your visual style, your audience and your recurring formats, so each video builds on the last. Ask directly who will edit your videos and whether that person stays consistent.

4. How many clients do they take on?

An agency with hundreds of clients runs on templates. That can be fine for simple content, but finance videos usually need more thought: deciding what to visualise, how to structure an argument, where the hook is. Ask how many active clients each editor handles.

5. What's the turnaround?

Finance content is often time-sensitive. A market update that's a week late loses much of its value. Ask for the agency's standard turnaround from raw footage to publish-ready video, how revisions work, and what happens when news breaks and you need something fast.

6. What results can they show?

Look for specific before-and-after numbers from real channels, with a timeframe. "We help creators grow" means nothing. "This channel went from X to Y subscribers in Z months, and here's what we changed" is something you can evaluate.

7. What happens if it doesn't work?

Ask about contracts, minimum terms and guarantees. An agency confident in its process should be willing to put something on the line.

Questions to ask before you sign

  • Can you show me finance or education channels you've edited for?
  • How would you improve the retention on my last three videos?
  • Who exactly will edit my videos, and will it always be the same person?
  • How many clients does that editor work with?
  • What's your turnaround, and how do revisions work?
  • What results have you delivered, over what timeframe?
  • What guarantee do you offer?
